First off, you should have whether you post emails or not when people leave a comment.

But good points, I was reading someone's links the other day about a bunk of twitter advice for media. I'm planning on talking to my bosses about what they would want.

There's more links connected to those.

Thanks, Brian, for sharing the findings of my research, unscientific though it may be.
The "Todd Fettig experiments" point to the following:
1. People prefer links touted by actual people, as opposed to automated feeds. Usually.
2. SEO does not draw the most Twitter clicks. Unless it's a breaking story, write enticing "headlines" to draw your followers' attention.
3. Timing matters, but you don't have to be first. (Unless it's a breaking story, of course.) My most clicked-upon "bitly" so far? Oddly enough, a feature on log rolling that I posted hours after it went online. (My headline: "I've been saying for years that there IS a bright future in lumberjacking. Here's proof.")
4. You should tout the stories that truly interest you. Your followers -- presumably -- are interested in what you find interesting. Go with your gut.
I'll be sure to share any future findings with you.
And I'll continue to share 24-Minute Bikewitness Action News Updates and other newsy tidbits at twitter.com/toddfettig.
Take care,
